During his many visits to Europe,

Subhas tried to kindle sympathy

For India's independence.

Mahatma promised that he would write

A letter of recommendation

To his friends abroad for Subhas,

India's unofficial ambassador.

On his second thought,

Not only did he eat his promise,

But also he did not feel the necessity

To offer Subhas even the shadow of an excuse.

It seems his unusually natural divinity

Simply did not want to come to the fore.
