The Goal Is Won

Beginning at the stroke of midnight on Sunday, 28 April 1974, Sri Chinmoy wrote an astonishing 360 poems in a single 24-hour period — a pace of one poem every four minutes — using his Yogic powers of concentration. Over the next few hours, a small group of his disciples worked tirelessly to typeset, proofread, illustrate, print, collate and bind these poems into a book entitled "The Goal Is Won". For the cover, Sri Chinmoy chose a picture of himself crossing the finishing line in first place in a 100-metre sprint held at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram on Sports Day 1959.

The day after Sri Chinmoy's poetry marathon, a special celebration was held in the field adjoining the Connecticut Sri Chinmoy Centre at 80 Perry Avenue, Norwalk, Connecticut. During the celebration, Sri Chinmoy gave this beautiful talk about the significance of his creation.
