The core of India's Light, part 3

1.

Aham Brahmasmi

I am Brahman.

To say that I am Brahman, or God without a second, is to smash the pride of ignorance-night.

2.

Ahamkara

Pride

Human pride destroys us.

Divine pride employs us for God-manifestation.

What is divine pride?

I am of God only. I am eternally all for God.

3.

Ahimsa

Non-violence

To practise non-violence what I need is a pure heart and a sure life.

India's Gandhi did it. I, too, can do the same.

4.

Amitabha

The Buddha of measureless Light

The Buddha inspires our mind.

The Buddha illumines our life.

The Buddha fulfils our heart.

The Buddha satisfies our soul.

5.

Amrta

Nectar-delight

Self-giving is today's nectar-delight.

God-becoming is tomorrow's nectar-delight.

6.

Ananda

Bliss

My soulful cry is Divinity's Bliss.

My fruitful smile is humanity's bliss.

7.

Arupa

Without form

Our inner beauty increases when we pray to the Reality without form.

Our outer beauty increases when we make friends with Divinity's outer form.

8.

Arya

The noble and the holy

The Godward march is only for the noble and the holy.

9.

Astika

Believer

A God-believer is he who at once lives in Divinity's Compassion-Heart and on humanity's inspiration-head.

10.

Asura

Demon

Impurity is demon's food.

What is impurity? Impurity is constant self-indulgence.

11.

AUM

The transcendental mantra

A represents God the Dream.

U represents God the Dreamer. M represents God the Dreamland.

12.

Avidya

Ignorance

To have an eternal hunger for God the Truth and God the Light is to finally come out of ignorance-night.

13.

Avyaya

Imperishable

Only a God-lover's gratitude-heart remains always imperishable.

14.

Bhagavan

God

Man says to God, "Do give me Your infinite Light."

God says to man, "First give Me your ignorance-sea. Then I shall gladly give you what you are asking for."

15.

Bhakta

Devotee

Three times God gets tremendous joy: when He sees His Transcendental Head, when He touches His Universal Body, and when He touches His self-giving devotee's heart.

16.

Bhakti

Devotion

In the spiritual life nothing is sweeter and nothing can be sweeter than the devotion-cry of the devotee's heart.

17.

Bala

Strength

Strength challenges the world.

Power enjoys the spontaneous surrender of the world.

18.

Balavat

As a child

When you approach God as a child, He gives you what you have asked for, plus the full assurance that He will give you everything that He has in His Universe.

19.

Bhava

Inspiring emotion in the heart

The fastest way to make progress is always to cry for inspiring emotion in the heart and surrendering devotion to the Lord Supreme.

20.

Bhoga

Enjoyment

Enjoyment is not fulfilment.

Enlightenment alone is fulfillment.

Give yourself totally.

Lo, enlightenment has dawned immediately.

21.

Bhokta

Enjoyer

The divine enjoyer at once enjoys the beauty of Heaven and the purity of earth.

22.

Brashtah

Fallen

You are fallen because your aspiration-flames are extinguished.

You are fallen because your ingratitude-existence is looming large.

23.

Bhikshu

Monk

The life of a monk desires world-rejection.

World-rejection is nothing short of the rejection of God's own Body.

Rejection cannot solve the world-problems.

It is the heroic acceptance of God that can and will someday transform each problem into a veritable opportunity for God-manifestation on earth.

24.

Bija

Seed

The human cry is the seed.

The divine Smile is the tree.

25.

Chit

Consciousness

When consciousness is infinitely expanded in today's blindness, man becomes tomorrow's all-illumining vision-sun.

26.

Chakshu

Eye

The eyes of the seeker may not know where God is, but the heart of the seeker not only knows where God is but also pulls God's Compassion-Presence into the seeker's existence-cry like a magnet.

27.

Daiva

Divine

The animal in me says that it can easily destroy the world.

The human in me says that it can easily create a new world. The divine in me says that it can soulfully cry and fruitfully smile.

28.

Dambha

Pride

Human pride declares: "I am above all."

Divine pride whispers: "I am for all."

29.

Dana

Alms-giving

I have no faith in alms-giving, but I have all faith in self-giving, for self-giving completes all human insufficiencies.

30.

Danda

Punishment

Not to dare to do the right thing, the divine thing, the supreme thing, in order to please the Inner Pilot, is undoubtedly the worst possible punishment.

31.

Darshana

Vision

According to the inner vision, each human being is a divine prince.

According to the outer vision, each human being is a slave of bondage-day and ignorance-night.

32.

Dasa

Slave

If one cannot become the lord of his lower self, then he cannot become a perfect slave of his higher self: God.

33.

Dharana

Concentration

Concentration is another name for power.

Meditation is another name for peace. Contemplation is another name for bliss.

34.

Diksha

Initiation

The supreme initiation is when the Master says to the disciple, "Take what I have," and the disciple says to the Master, "Take me as I am."

35.

Gandha

Fragrance

A soulfully grateful heart has always the best fragrance in God's entire creation.

36.

Gayatri

The sacred mantra from the Rig Veda addressed to the sun.

If the seeker soulfully recites the Gayatri mantra in the morning and the evening, illumination is bound to take place in the seeker's confusion-mind infinitely sooner than he would ever expect.

37.

Guru

Divine Teacher

The human teacher says to the student, "Work with me and I shall give you everything."

The divine Teacher says to his disciple, "I have kept God waiting for you. Don't delay; come with me to see Him."

38.

Ghosha

Sound

The outer sound confuses the human mind.

The inner sound awakens the human heart.

39.

Hahakara

Lamentation

Lamentation indefinitely delays not only our God-realisation but also our life-elevating preparation.

40.

Havis

When we give to God as an offering both our desire-life and our aspiration-life, God tells us that the offering of our desire-life helps us run toward Him, and the offering of our aspiration-life helps Him run toward us.

41.

Haya

Horse

In the Vedas the horse signifies sacrifice — sacrifice of our life-energising power and God-manifesting light.

42.

Hiranmaya

Golden

The Golden Shore of the Beyond will always remain a far cry unless and until we not only believe in the supreme secret of self-giving but also practise it at every moment.

43.

Iccha-mrtyu

Death by an act of will

Aspiration for an immortal life so that God can be manifested is infinitely more meaningful, fruitful and praiseworthy than death by an act of will.

44.

Iccha-sakti

Will-power

Will-power reaches the goal not because it is the possessor of an adamantine heart, but because it is the boundless lover of an illumining and fulfilling goal.

No will-power, no success.

No will-power, no progress.

For success, be careful and be brave. For progress, be conscious and be self-giving.

45.

Ishtasdevata

The personal aspect of the presiding deity.

The personal aspect of the presiding deity governs the human in us compassionately and awakens the divine in us selflessly.

46.

Jagadguru

World Teacher

If we love the World Teacher who is Compassion, then the World Teacher who is Perfection brings us to the World Teacher who is His own Eternity's Satisfaction.

47.

Japa

Repetition of an incantation

In order to get the best result while repeating an incantation, we have to feel an illumining flame deep within us which is growing into countless flames, and finally into a full-blazing sun.

48.

Kha

Sky

The mental sky has to be cleared up before the psychic cry can climb up to the highest height.

49.

Kirti

Fame

The human fame is a deceptive but loud sound.

The divine fame is a soundless sound which the seeker hears in his receptivity-heart.

50.

Kratu

Sacrifice

A cheerful self-giving founded upon oneness is always ignorant of sacrifice.

51.

Krodha

Anger

Anger is the connecting bridge between man's destruction-blow and his repentance-flow.

52.

Krpa

Compassion

God's Compassion-Dictionary houses countless words, excepting only one word: frustration.

53.

Kshetra

Soil

When we sleeplessly cry only for God's Love, our heart's soil becomes immediately fertile and receptive.

54.

Kusa

Sacred grass

The seeker has to be as sacred and humble as grass in order to consciously and constantly make the fastest progress.

55.

Kutira

Hut

The body of a hermit lives in a hut, but the heart of the hermit lives in the entire universe.

56.

Kshaya

Destruction

The intimate friend of aspiration is illumination and never destruction.

57.

Kshana

Moment

A moment of inner cry reveals an entire day of outer smile.

58.

Kshama

Forgiveness

Out of His infinite Bounty God grants His Forgiveness so that once more I can get the opportunity to cry for a new dawn.

But how can I ever forgive stupidity's shameless heights?
