He thinks his outer years

Will offer him wisdom-light.

Alas, he is totally wrong.

He thinks his mental capacities

Will offer him wisdom-light.

Alas, this time, too, he is wrong.

Finally, he comes to realise

That it is God's Compassion-Flood

That offers him the wisdom-light.
