Two divine qualities: confidence and sincerity

Return to the table of contents

Part I — confidence

TDQ 1-20. These twenty poems on confidence were written on 14 December 1981.

1.

Only a self-giving devotee
Can have ecstatic confidence
In the depths of his heart.

2.

If we can earnestly
And soulfully meditate,
Then we can easily have
Cheerful confidence.

3.

Perfect confidence is not
In earth-possession
But in self-illumination.

4.

To acquire victory's crown,
One must cultivate
Resolute confidence
In one's spiritual life.

5.

If a seeker is not
Continuously blessed
With purity-breath,
Then his life
Will unmistakably betray
Arrogant confidence.

6.

Success on the outer plane
Does not remain a far cry
After the mind has achieved
Solid confidence.

7.

Before God-realisation
It is almost an impossible task
To have supreme confidence
In one's aspiration-life.

8.

Devilish confidence
And destruction
Are immediate neighbours.

9.

To have complacent confidence
Is the beginning
Of one's fast-approaching perdition
In one's inner life.

10.

If you are a good seeker,
Then you will try
To earn confidence
In the depths
Of your aspiring heart
And not enjoy confidence
In your obscure and impure vital.

11.

A disciplined life
Can unmistakably
Register confidence
In the searching mind.

12.

When the clever mind undermines
Your spiritual confidence
In your life,
Do not be doomed to disappointment,
Even for a fleeting second.

13.

Confidence in my mind
Wavers.

14.

Confidence in my heart
Soars.

15.

Confidence in my soul
Prevails.

16.

My aspiring heart
Is
My intimate confidant.

17.

My searching mind
Is
My faithful confidant.

18.

My striving vital
Is
My usual confidant.

19.

My awakened body
Is
My receptive confidant.

20.

My dedicated life
Is
My serving and fulfilling
Confidant.

Part II — sincerity

TDQ 21-46. These twenty-six poems on sincerity were written on 20 October 1995.

21.

Sincerity
Is
God the seed.

22.

Sincerity
Is
Soul the garden.

23.

Sincerity
Is
Heart the plant.

24.

Sincerity
Is
Life the tree.

25.

Sincerity
Without intensity
Is futility.

26.

Sincerity
Without eagerness
Is barrenness.

27.

Sincerity
Without cheerfulness
Is callousness.

28.

Sincerity
Without humility
Is absurdity.

29.

Sincerity
Is the sweetness
Of our outer existence.

30.

Sincerity
Is the fulness
Of our inner existence.

31.

God embraces
The heart of
Sincerity.

32.

God blesses
The mind of
Sincerity.

33.

God treasures
The life of
Sincerity.

34.

When a seeker is wanting
In sincerity,
His aspiration-heart
And dedication-life
Are bound to become
Spiritually bankrupt
Sooner than at once.

35.

Sincerity
Is by far the best
God-Protection-assurance.

36.

A sincerity-mind,
An openness-heart
And
A fulness-soul
Are most intimately
Inseparable.

37.

When I become my own
Sincerity-heart,
God becomes
His fastest and strongest
Magnet-Heart.

38.

The more I value
My sincerity-breath,
The stronger becomes
God's Manifestation-Promise
In and through me on earth.

39.

In the battlefield of life,
We become the victors
Over ignorance-night
Only when
The sincerity of the mind,
The spontaneity of the heart,
The rapidity of the vital
And
The purity of the body
Work in perfect oneness.

40.

Sincerity,
I do love you and need you.
But I am telling you
In all sincerity
That I love and need
God's Will-Manifestation-Delight
On earth
Infinitely more.
Nay, God's Fulfilment-Smile
Is the only thing
That I sleeplessly need.

41.

Sincerity,
You are morality's
Loftiest height.

42.

Morality is the excellence
Of the mind, heart and life.
Although spirituality
Is in morality and for morality,
It goes far beyond
Morality's territory-confines.

43.

The human in us needs
Sincerity's perfect perfection
And
Morality's complete satisfaction.

44.

The divine in us
Also needs the same.
But the divine in us,
Being consciously and constantly
One with God's Will,
At times does not abide
By morality's strict injunctions.

45.

Humanity's complete fulfilment
Can and shall dawn
Only when humanity prayerfully,
Bravely and self-givingly
Accepts Divinity
For the sake of Divinity.

46.

"Let Thy Will be done,"
Him to fulfil in His own Way:
This is sincerity's sleepless dream
And breathless reality.
