I love and worship
Your beautiful Eye
And beautiful Feet.

During the day
I love and worship
Your powerful Eye
And powerful Feet.

In the evening

Your peaceful Eye
And peaceful Feet.

My Lord,
At night
I love and worship
Your merciful, Godful
And good-bye Eye
And Feet.

EMP 1-4. Sanya, China, 5 December 2004

5.

My Lord loves
To whisper
All His Answers.

6.

Forgivers
Are immediate and everlasting
Happiness-enjoyers.

7.

The heart-givers
Are the life-transformers
Of the world.

8.2

God does not want me
To count His Miracles.
He wants me to count
Only my God-love-heart-tears.

EMP 5-8. Sanya, China, 6 December 2004

9.

When I sing,
My Lord smiles at me
Lovingly.

10.

When I sing soulfully,
My Lord blesses me
Powerfully.

11.

When I sing soulfully,
Devotedly and self-givingly,
My Lord embraces me
Immediately.

12.

The lower I bend my head
To my Lord Supreme,
The deeper joy I receive
From Him.

13.3

The quicker I touch
The Lotus-Feet
Of my Lord Supreme,
The stronger I feel Him,
Physically and spiritually.

EMP 9-13. Sanya, China, 7 December 2004

14.

I have
An eternal companion:
My heart’s inner poise.

15.

Every morning
I need
A newborn God-hunger.

16.

My earthly music
Is
My Heavenward journey.

17.4

My Heavenly music
Is the beauty
Of my universal life.

EMP 14-17. Xiamen, China, 8 December 2004

18.

I sleeplessly adore
My highest height.

19.

I breathlessly love
My deepest depth.

20.

God,
With His Power,
Comes down.

21.

God,
With His Compassion,
Lives on earth.

22.5

God,
With His Delight,
Returns.

EMP 18-22. Xiamen, China, 9 December 2004

23.

I must live
In my heart-home
At every moment.

24.

My prayers must reach
The four corners
Of the globe.

25.

My meditations must intensify
The God-hunger
Of every seeker.

26.6

I must offer my heart-tears,
Soul-smiles and life-gratitude
To my Lord Beloved Supreme
Unreservedly and unconditionally,
Every morning and every evening.

EMP 23-26. Xiamen, China, 10 December 2004

27.

I do not pray to God
To make me a great man —
No, no, no!

28.

I do not pray to God
To make me a good man —
No, no, no!

29.

I pray to God
To be His, only His,
All His.

30.7

I tell my Lord Beloved Supreme
That in every aspect of my life,
It is for Him to make
The decision,
And I will take His Decision
As final, absolutely final.

EMP 27-30. Xiamen, China, 11 December 2004

31.

This morning
I am a prayerful, soulful
And grateful
God-obedience-heart.

32.

The mind desires
Constant God-Attention.

33.

The heart desires
Sleepless God-Affection.

34.8

My Lord Beloved Supreme
And I
Thrive on our mutual fondness.

EMP 31-34. Xiamen, China, 12 December 2004

35.

Every day
I am learning more and more
The divine art
Of unconditional surrender
To God’s Will.

36.

Even for a fleeting moment,
The pangs of
My God-separation-heart
Are unbearable.

37.

With an inner thrill
I wait to receive
My Lord Supreme.

38.9

My heart-lotus
Blossoms only
At the Lotus-Feet
Of my Lord Supreme.

EMP 35-38. Xiamen, China, 13 December 2004

39.

This morning
My Lord said to me,
“My child,
Doers accomplish;
Talkers perish.
I want you
To be a doer.”

40.

I happily welcome
My sweet days.
I bravely welcome
My bitter days.

41.10

God says to all the seekers
Of the world,
“Discipline your lives,
My children,
Discipline your lives!
If you do not, I shall force you, I shall force you.”

EMP 39-41. Xiamen, China, 15 December 2004

42.

My heart
Is made of
My Lord’s sweet Dreams.

43.

Every day
I dive deeper and deeper
Into my Lord’s
Compassion-Ocean-Eye.

44.

On Eternity’s Road,
One by one all may leave me,
But not my Lord’s
Compassion-Eye.

45.11

My Lord,
Not Power, not Light —
What I need from You
Is Peace,
Your Infinity’s Peace.

EMP 42-45. Xiamen, China, 16 December 2004

46.

I pray
In the temple of devotion
To receive Joy
From my Lord.

47.

I meditate
In the temple of surrender
To receive Peace
From my Lord.

48.

I love
My soaring heart-bird
And not
My roaring mind-lion.

49.12

My mind sees
The tearful God.
My heart sees
The blissful God.

EMP 46-49. Xiamen, China, 17 December 2004

50.

My love, my devotion
And my surrender
Have God-Blood-relations.

51.

My Lord has been searching
For only one happy heart
In His vast Creation.

52.

A kind life
Is
A God-chosen life.

53.13

A kind heart
Is
A God-given heart.

EMP 50-53. Xiamen, China, 18 December 2004

54.

May my heart
Be a fountain
Of God-gratitude-tears.

55.

May my life
Be a sky
Of God-plenitude-smiles.

56.

My Lord is already
Inside my heart
With His Compassion-Eye
To grant me God-realisation.

57.14

The Master sees his disciples
First inside his heart
And then in front of his eyes.

EMP 54-57. Xiamen, China, 19 December 2004

58.

I pray to God
With my aspiration-eyes.

59.

I meditate on God
With my aspiration-heart.

60.

I walk and run
Towards God
With my aspiration-legs.

61.15

God has appointed
My aspiration
To take me to Him
As soon as possible.

EMP 58-61. Xiamen, China, 20 December 2004

62.

God wants me
To be the promoter
Of all the inspiring things
That are taking place
Here on earth.

63.

Quite often
The courage of the mind
Plays the role of an absentee.

64.

My Lord gets
A shocking experience from me
When I do not adequately care for His Creation.

65.16

God always keeps me
Inside His Heart-Home
No matter how badly I fare
In my aspiration-life.

EMP 62-65. Qingdao, China, 25 December 2004

66.

Beautiful
Is
My heart-awakening.

67.

Blissful
Is
My God-remembrance.

68.

Painful
Is
My God-forgetfulness.

69.17

Our divine qualities
Brighten and gladden
The Eye
Of our Lord Supreme.

EMP 66-69. Qingdao, China, 26 December 2004

70.

My love, my devotion
And my surrender
Will remain my unfailing friends
Right to the very end.

71.

What I badly need
Is a peace-flooded
Silence-heart.

72.

World-harmony
And world-union
Remain the unrealised dreams
Of our age.

73.18

I prayerfully welcome
Every morning
The silence-arrival
Of my Lord Beloved Supreme
At my heart-door.

EMP 70-73. Qingdao, China, 28 December 2004

74.

My heart’s capacity
To feel God’s Compassion-Rain
Is far beyond the imagination
Of my mind.

75.

My Lord,
How is it that every time
I want to give You
Everything that I have
And everything that I am,
I sadly fail?
“My child,
Develop more intensity
In your devotion to Me.”

76.

O where can I get a passport
To enter into my Lord’s
Heart-Home-Land?

77.19

God tells me
That if I can silence my mind,
Then He will give me
A free entry
Into all the countries
In His Creation.

EMP 74-77. Qingdao, China, 29 December 2004

Editor's preface to the first edition

During his trip to China from November 2004 to February 2005, Sri Chinmoy was inspired to offer a number of prayers very early in the morning, when he came down from his hotel room to go out walking. These 160 prayers are published in two volumes.
