Between 21 and 26 June 1986, Sri Chinmoy’s 240-pound one-arm press, his 1300-pound calf-raise and his anniversary celebration followed quickly upon each other’s heels. A number of newspapers picked up on the momentum that was being generated and carried stories, features and photographs relating to these events. Of particular interest to journalists was the way in which Sri Chinmoy revealed how the spiritual can work through the body and how the body can be receptive to this spiritual power.Photograph
