Professor Carse: I think persons who were tuned in at the beginning of the programme and heard that music would certainly agree that it does set a marvellous mood for meditation. Do you have a philosophy behind the music? Is there a reason why you use music?
Sri Chinmoy: God the Musician created this world as God the Music. We call it God's universal harmony. And if one wants to make progress, then one has to feel harmony in his inner life and his outer life. So, when we play haunting melodies, we feel that our entire being is raised to a higher consciousness and the higher we can go, the better becomes our outer life and inner life. God the Musician has created God the Music, which is the Universe. So, when we pray and meditate, we try to bring into our outer life the soulful music that we already have in our inner life.
