Professor Carse: Certainly, in some sense, we would say that your religious background is Hindu, probably Vedanta. I don't know how technical you want to be about that.
Sri Chinmoy: Religious background — I come from India and I was born as a Hindu. So, Hinduism is my religion. But once one accepts spiritual life, that is, in the purest of the term, one has to go beyond one's own religion. At that time, if you call it religion, then that religion is nothing but a oneness-family. I was born a Hindu, but I embrace Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam as my own, very own, for they are also expressing, revealing and manifesting the same truth as Hinduism. Hinduism has been doing it for millennia.
