Professor Carse: So, one of our spiritual tasks is to respond to the Pilot. Is it possible to disobey the Pilot?
Sri Chinmoy: Yes. When we disobey the Pilot, we meet with the consequences. You are the professor, a distinguished, professor, an esteemed professor. You teach at New York University. If you have unfortunate students, if they don't listen to you . . .Professor Carse (joking): Well, then they are very unfortunate!
Sri Chinmoy: They are supposed to listen to you! Because they know, those who are good students definitely know, that you are an ocean of knowledge and wisdom. By listening to you, they are going to get the benefit. You are sharing with them your knowledge and wisdom-light and they are listening to you and they are also being inundated with light. Now, those who do not listen to you definitely become ignorant. So, ignorance itself is punishment. If they remain ignorant, they cannot be happy, they cannot be fulfilled. So, when we do not obey our Inner Pilot, we remain ignorant and the consequence of ignorance itself is a great torture.
