The Way to Go

"I was born a Hindu, but I embrace Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam as my own, very own, for they are also expressing, revealing and manifesting the same truth as Hinduism. Hinduism has been doing it for millennia."

"— Sri Chinmoy"

This half-hour television interview with Sri Chinmoy was conducted by Professor James P. Carse, Chairman of the Religion Department at New York University. It was initially aired on 26 February 1984 on WCBS-TV as part of "The Way to Go" Sunday morning programme, which Professor Carse hosted for eight years.

Sri Chinmoy had known Professor Carse for more than a decade. In 1973, Professor Carse invited him to give a series of lectures on the topic of Kundalini Yoga at NYU on consecutive Wednesday evenings, beginning February 14th. Sri Chinmoy gave four lectures in total. These were subsequently published in his book "Kundalini: The Mother-Power".

Over the decades, and in countries around the globe, Sri Chinmoy gave numerous interviews. This particular interview, however, uniquely captures the easy flow of conversation that Sri Chinmoy enjoyed with a kindred soul. Here, in response to Professor Carse's wide-ranging questions, Sri Chinmoy expresses the essence of his philosophy.
