379. ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION

I wanted to be really rich;
   Therefore
Constantly I wanted to add
   To my possessions.

God wanted me to be supremely rich;
   Therefore
He most carefully subtracted
   My possessions
        From
   My desire-life,
        And
Most carefully added
   My renunciation
   To my aspiration-soul
        And
   Realisation-Goal.
