To witness the mutual and abiding friendship between these favourite two of Bengal, we need only read a portion of a poignant letter Subhas wrote to Dilip from the Penitentiary in Madras in September of 1932:"Dilip, your letter has touched such a tender chord in my heart...that it is not easy for me to offer a reply by way of reciprocation....But I know that you will continue to feel for me. This is a great solace to me" — no matter where I happen to be confined.
