The Taxi Driver's Invitation
Once, I ran in the Orange Bowl Marathon in Florida. It started at four o'clock in the morning. It was so hot, and it was raining heavily. At one point, I was taking shelter from the rain under a tree. A taxi driver was so kind to me. He came up to me and said, "Come into my taxi. I will not tell anybody."He wanted to save me a few miles, but I did not want to become like that famous girl, Rosie Ruiz. So, I started running in the rain again.
Fred Lebow was also running in that race. When he came up to me, he walked with me for three hundred metres. Then he smiled at me and indicated that it was time for him to go on.
