Tie Your Camel

"Anas ibn Malik reported: A man said, O Messenger of Allah, should I tie my camel and trust in Allah, or should I leave her untied and trust in Allah? The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon Him, said, Tie her and trust in Allah.

Sri Chinmoy was always profoundly inspired by the wise words and sayings from other cultures. In a pithy and often memorable way, using simple references from everyday life, these expressions embody the common sense, morals, advice and truth acquired by generation after generation. On 16 January 1998, while staying at the Merida Holiday Inn in Cancun, Mexico, Sri Chinmoy offered his reflections on a number of proverbs from various nations and religious traditions. Interestingly, his comments sometimes give a spiritual and personal context to the proverb. At other times, they expand upon it.
